What Pinned stores
Pinned keeps your pins on your device, in a local database. That’s the title, the note, the state, the order you put them in, and whatever you attach to each one:
- A contact you pick — their name and a reference to the entry in your address book.
- A link.
- A place — a name and its coordinates.
- A file — a reference to where it lives, not a copy.
- A date to be nudged.
- A calendar event — a reference to the event, not its contents.
There is no account and no sign-in. Nothing syncs to a server, because there is no server. Delete a pin and it’s gone. Uninstall the app and all of it goes with it.
Link previews
When you pin a link, Pinned fetches that page once to show its title and icon on the card. The request goes to the site you pinned, and to wherever its icon and preview image are hosted — the same request a browser would make opening that page. The request is not sent to us, and nothing from the page is stored beyond the title and icon shown on the card.
Place search
When you search for a place to attach to a pin, the text you type is sent to Android’s geocoding service to turn it into a point on the map. The name and coordinates you pick are then stored on your device, like any other attachment.
What stays on your device
Everything else. Your pins, your notes, the calendar events you read in to attach, the files you reference, the dates you set. Reading your calendar to list events needs the calendar permission; Pinned reads them and never changes them. Notifications and exact-alarm permissions let a date nudge arrive on time and let the in-progress notification count up. The contact picker runs inside your address-book app and hands back only the contact you choose, so Pinned never reads your contacts itself.
What Pinned does not do
- No accounts. No cloud. No sync.
- No analytics, no telemetry, no crash reporting.
- No ads, no trackers, no third-party SDKs.
- No selling or sharing of your data. There is nothing to sell.
Third parties
The only data that leaves your device is the two requests above: the link you pin (sent to that site) and the place name you search (sent to Android’s geocoding service). Pinned has no servers and embeds no third-party analytics or advertising code.
App store data
On Google Play, Pinned’s Data Safety entry declares no data collected and no data shared. What happens on your device stays there, apart from the two requests above.
